Last updated: October 2026

A ready-to-publish accessibility statement for a Shopify store. Replace the bracketed fields with your store name and contact email, then publish it as a page. The interactive version at https://easyappsecom.com/example-accessibility fills the fields in for you and copies the formatted statement.

## The template

### Accessibility Statement

At [Your store name], we are committed to ensuring our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to make our store inclusive, easy to use, and compliant with applicable accessibility standards.

This website uses an accessibility interface that lets visitors adjust the look and behaviour of the site to suit their needs — for example text size, contrast, spacing and motion.

#### Accessibility standards

Our website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These internationally recognised guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible, and are built on four principles:

- Perceivable — information and interface components are presented in ways everyone can perceive.
- Operable — interface components and navigation can be used by everyone, including with a keyboard alone.
- Understandable — information and the operation of the interface are clear and predictable.
- Robust — content works reliably with a wide range of browsers and assistive technologies.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our website and continue to make improvements, because we believe everyone deserves a seamless shopping experience.

#### Feedback and contact

We welcome your feedback. If you experience any difficulty using our website, or have suggestions for how we can improve, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

- Email: [your-email@yourstore.com]

## Add it to your Shopify store

1. **Copy the statement**, after filling in your store name and email.
2. **Create a page** — in Shopify admin go to Online Store → Pages → Add page and title it "Accessibility".
3. **Paste and save** — headings and bullet points come across intact.
4. **Link it in your footer** — Online Store → Navigation → Footer menu, add a link to the new page.

**Keep it honest.** A statement explains your commitment and gives people a way to reach you — it does not make a store compliant on its own. If parts of your site are not yet accessible, say so and give a date for fixing them. This template is not legal advice.

## Back the statement up with real fixes

EA Accessibility adds an accessibility menu to your store — text size, contrast, spacing, readable fonts and motion controls — with a free plan. https://easyappsecom.com/apps/accessibility

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need an accessibility statement on my Shopify store?

In most places it is not a standalone legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended. It shows customers you take accessibility seriously, tells people with disabilities how to reach you when something does not work, and is expected under frameworks such as the European Accessibility Act for many online stores.

### Does publishing a statement make my store compliant?

No. A statement describes your commitment and gives people a way to report problems; it does not fix barriers on its own. Pair it with real improvements — alt text, colour contrast, keyboard navigation and an accessibility tool such as EA Accessibility — and keep the statement honest about any known limitations.

### Where should the statement go?

Publish it as its own page (for example /pages/accessibility) and link it from your footer menu, next to your privacy policy and terms. That is where customers and auditors expect to find it.

### How often should I update it?

Review it whenever you make significant changes to your theme or apps, and at least once a year. Update the date at the bottom each time so readers know it is current.
